You said it perfectly, "not that I haven't passed out a time or two though." There is grace in this beautiful practice and allows us to see how we can deepen and apply the disciplines of connecting the mind and body. Always learning and growing. Thank you for taking the time in sharing your thoughts and posting the Sutra that pertains, real treasure. : )

Ah yes, bodily functions. I love Family Guy. Therefore I love fart humor. āsana practice gives us the great opportunity to "act as if the world depends upon our every action all the while laughing at ourselves thinking it does".
śavāsana, though, should not be an opportunity to fall asleep.
In Maharṣi Patañjali Yoga Sūtra |1|
महर्षि पतञ्जलि योग सूत्र।१।
pramāṇa viparyaya vikalpa nidrā smṛtayaḥ ||6||
प्रमाण विपर्यय विकल्प निद्रा स्मृतयः ॥६॥
Sleep is listed as one of the vṛtti वृत्ति or 5 mental modifications to be overcome.
We should actually do the opposite of "Honoring thy body" according to the
haṭhayogapradīpikā |1| ||32||
हठयोगप्रदीपिका ।१। ॥३२॥
where
"focus should be brought to the breath and body"
Just doesn't seem like a practice if I give in every time. Doesn't mean I haven't passed out a time or two though.
Interesting how "Modern Science" makes use of 5000 year old techniques!
